📖 Step by step tutorial

Step 1: Distribute from Random Sounds

You must first import the releases in our Release Import tool.

Once you select the distributor and the Spotify links, you must press the Process Import button.

It generally takes 30 to 60 seconds to import data for each release, so you will receive a confirmation email when you can find the imported releases in Drafts.

You must upload the files:

  • Release artwork image

  • WAV files of the songs

You must complete the fields:

  • Release music genres

  • Release language

  • Credits for each song

Important:

DO NOT change audio files, release name, song names, artist names. If you do, the platforms may not recognize that it is the same release.

✅ Yes, you can change the song credits if necessary. This is especially useful if your previous distributor did not allow you to add this information.

Step 2: Wait a week from publication

You must wait at least a week after your release has been approved by the Random Sounds team and distributed to all platforms.

In the first few hours of the migration, the release will appear as "duplicate" as in the following example:

One of them is the original release with all the information, and the other release is the new release distributed by Random Sounds that will appear without stream count.

Original release:

New release:

After a few hours, the platforms will recognize that it is the same release, the releases will appear as 2 versions of the same release and the statistics will be available for both versions.

Above we can see how both versions (the original and the migration) have all the song statistics.

Step 3: Take down the releases from the previous distributor

Once a week has passed since the Random Sounds distribution was sent, you can take down the release from your previous distributor.

This way stream count and playlist data for releases is not lost.

Remember not to take down releases without ensuring that at least a week has passed since both releases are online.
