Updated over 6 months ago

A remix is a new mix (or remix) of an already released song. It consists of producing a new song using parts of the original song.

This new song combines parts of the original song with other elements produced by the producer making the remix.

Required licenses

To legally distribute a remix you need to acquire three licenses:

1. Master's License

To be able to include parts of the original recording in a new recording. You must obtain this directly from the record label that owns the master.

2. Derivative Works License

A remix is a Derivative Work, so you need a license from the composers. You must obtain this from the original composers or publishers.
