Learn what you cannot distribute to TikTok

Updated over a week ago

These 5 type of audio content are considered fraudulent by TikTok, and therefore you should not distribute any of this in a release:

  1. Hidden Recording - Tracks that contain "hidden" samples of tracks owned/controlled by other rightsholders.

  2. Mix/Mashup - Contains a track that is owned/controlled by other rightsholders.

  3. Sped Up/Slowed Down - Tracks owned/controlled by other rightsholders that have been delivered with the speed altered.

  4. Generic/Invalid Sounds - Tracks that contain common or generic sounds (e.g. laughter, spoken word, claps or nature sounds) that are not eligible for fingerprinting on the platform and are delivered with the intent of generating royalties illegitimately.

  5. UGC/PGC Copycat - Rips/copies of trending sounds/recordings owned by other rightsholders.

If you deliver any of this, Random Sounds' review team will not approve it.

If you manage to sneak it past the review and these content gets monetized on TikTok, you could face the following consequences:

  1. Account Termination - TikTok will notify Random Sounds, and we will ban your account.

  2. Withheld Royalties - TikTok may request Random Sounds to refund all royalties generated by your account, so we will freeze your balance and you will not be able to cash out.

  3. Legal Consequences - Rightsholders could present legal charges because of Copyright infringement and Fraud. You are liable on the contents you distribute and monetize without authorization.
